The Oxford Heritage range of vintage-styled waxed cotton luggage uses traditional materials and manufacturing techniques to evoke the style of all-weather classic motorcycling. But concealed beneath the look of the past is a layer of modern technology, to keep you 'off the bike' gear dry.
The key material is a dry waxed cotton, a modern take on the traditional sail cloth which found its way into the clothing that sailors wore to protect themselves from the salt water and wet weather. The dry wax application is applied to all outer materials including the straps and has the very real benefit of not coming off on your hands when moving, fitting and using the luggage.
Respectful of the material’s heritage, Oxford’s designers have employed traditional methods to assemble the bags. For example, pockets are pleated in order to lie flat when empty, but provide space to expand when full; flag stitches secure all the straps and strapping points to the main structure of the bag; the roll top closure is both traditional and the best way to seal the bags against rain. Inside the bags, however, you will find a very modern removable waterproof liner which uses taped seams to guarantee that the contents remain dry, even when the outer material has been drenched. Similarly, the luggage employs Oxford’s most up-to-date fitting system to ensure that it can be secured to the bike safely, with all necessary fittings supplied. The result is a wholly user-friendly product which does the job whilst looking the part.
